About the Group
During 2023 EPIC initiated a Sustainability Workgroup for the members, and so far we have had 3 online meetings each year and one in-person gathering at the LASER WORLD of PHOTONICS. Each meeting follows a structured agenda, with two companies sharing their sustainability practices in the first part. The second part is dedicated to identifying collective goals and objectives that can be more effectively achieved as
a group rather than individually. Currently, our workgroup is supported by a dynamic group of engaged members.
Key accomplishments of the Sustainability Workgroup in 2024 include:
Award: First photonics industry award for sustainability was founded
Online meetings: Members experience sharing, roundtable discussions, external speakers
In person gathering: Knowing each other & brainstorming what we can do as an industry
One to one talks: Creation of cheat-sheets helping members to be more sustainable
We are committed to fostering sustainability within the photonics industry and look forward to further collaborative efforts in 2024.
